Cooperations in the Field
SysLex works together with existing academic theological online lexica that are available open access. The cooperation of SysLex (with other projects and partners) in the German language and also with an international scope is aimed at a tighter networking of disciplinary perspectives within theology.
Current cooperations include:
- WiBiLex [german academic encyclopedia in biblical studies]
- WiReLex [german academic encyclopedia in religious education]
- Ethik-Lexikon [german academic encyclopedia in ethics, conducted by the Lutheran Church of Bavaria]
- Konfessionskunde Online [german academic encyclopedia in ecumene, conducted by Konfessionskundlichen Institut Bensheim]
- EZW Lexikon für Religion und Weltanschauungen [german academic encyclopedia in religion an philosophies of life, conducted by Evangelische Zentrale für Weltanschauungsfragen]
- St. Andrews Encyclopedia of Theology [englisch academic international and interreligious encyclopedia for theology]

Technical Cooperations
SysLex uses Open Encyclopedia System, an open-source software for online encyclopedia developed by FUB-IT, the Digital Research Infrastructure division at Freie Universität Berlin.
SysLex is managed in IT matters on an ongoing basis by Fachinformationsdienst Theologie The Tübingen University Library is responsible for hosting and thus ensuring the long-term sustainability of the lexicon.
The Bible passages and corresponding links are provided by the German Bible Society.
Financial Support
Start-up funding for the project was provided by the Digital Innovations Fund of the Evangelical Church in Germany (2023-2025) and the education department of the VELKD (2023-2024).
The editorial office is financed by the University of Zurich.
Further financial support is provided by the home institutions of the editors, in particular the FEST Heidelberg, the University of Jena and the PThU Utrecht.

SysLex is supported in its public relations work by Mohr Siebeck, an independent publishing house that has been publishing scholarly monographs, journals, text and work editions, commentaries, textbooks, and reference works since its founding in 1801. The publishing program includes the fields of law, theology, philosophy, Jewish studies, history, and social and economic sciences.
